Lakeshore Family-

 

What a day yesterday was!  The Joint service with our Ark Of Jesus,
Victory Fellowship, New Christian Fellowship and Shema Yisrael friends
was a phenomenal success... off-the-hook music, enlightening speakers
who shared the real deal on race, the Shofar (Jewish horn), and a picnic
that the rain could not stop.  800 people were in attendance and many,
many more in the Atrium who weren't counted.  

 

I'm really proud of the way you all responded to the service.  You were
cordial, energized and very loving.  I don't have the total yet, but
thank you for your generosity in giving "above and beyond" to these
churches (I'll have the total on Sunday).  BTW, Channel 13 was there and
we hope to try and link the story to our site (if anyone has a DVD of
it, please bring it to the church office).  We also hope to put the
service on our website in the days ahead.

 

Many of you want to do things together more often with our friends.  I
encourage you to connect up with people that you met at the service.
Give them a call and get to know them.  You'll have your life changed on
the race issue even further when you get to know someone personally.


 

A few other items for your consideration:

 

1) The Leadership Summit (August 6-7) is still available for $105 for
Lakeshore attendees ONLY.  You can come early on Thursday to register if
you can't do it online.  Grow your leadership skills at this event along
with nearly 300 other leaders from Western NY and PA.

 

2) This Saturday from 9:00-10:30am is our monthly Synergy prayer event
(recall we no longer have the later time).  Come pray!  Child care is
available.

 

3) This Sunday is Baptism Orientation after the 11am service.  Learn
more about baptism and if you're ready to take the plunge on Saturday,
August 22.  Lunch is provided.

 

4) Our final Community Group Training event will be held on Saturday,
August 15 from 8:30 - 12:30pm.  If you have completed Basic and Advanced
Training, you can show up at 12 noon for the last half hour of training
to learn how to use the Fall series study guide.  We still need many
more people (especially men!) to lead a Community Group.

 

One last word.  Would you pray about Lakeshore finances and giving?
While we started the year really strong, the past 3 months have seen a
distinct drop in giving.  We don't know if this is a "Summer Slump"
decrease or something more closely related to the economy.  It is not a
serious issue at this point, but we will be keeping our eyes on it
during August and September.  So please say a prayer now that God would
do His perfect work in us all around financial giving.
