Dear Lakeshore Family-
When it comes to memorable and unique services, yesterday's ranks right
up there in Lakeshore history.
As always, it was great to see photos of our kids who graduated from
High School, college and trade schools. Having my daughter in the video
was personally meaningful. But the service, particularly the renewing
of wedding vows was super special. Over 100 couples renewed their vows
at the front of the auditorium and having the view I had, it was
emotional, heart-felt and powerful. I saw the emotion up close
(including between Sue and I) and this was undoubtedly a powerful day
for many couples. Knowing some of the stories that exist in a number of
these marriages, it is fair to say that God is doing a powerful work in
them. And how awesome was the reception and decorations in the Atrium?
The lines for pictures in our garden areas moved me and I enjoyed great
conversations with many couples as they waited their turn. A number of
them attended for the first time. It was a fitting conclusion to a
series that I am trusting God will use for couples for years to come.
Where else but Lakeshore would something like this occur? The Greece
Post will cover this event in their paper this week. No other TV or
print media showed an interest. Says so much about how undervalued
marriage commitment is in our world.
This is a busy week at Lakeshore so I wanted to remind you of a few
events...
This Tuesday, June 30 is the final day to obtain the $75 rate for the
Leadership Summit. Do not miss this two-day event or you'll lose out on
so much power-packed teaching and leadership! Please remember that this
special rate is only for Lakeshore attendees and members. It is not for
friends or coworkers who do not attend Lakeshore (that is the agreement
we made with Willow Creek via contract so thanks for operating with
integrity in this regard).
This Thursday is Common Ground Midweek service at 7pm. Bring the whole
family and enjoy a great evening featuring communion and teaching
through Hebrews. Even if you've never attended, you'll be able to track
with the service.
Then on Saturday, July 4 starting at 6pm we'll be hosting our 3rd annual
"Community Day". After you have your own gatherings and cookouts during
the day, come to church anytime from 6pm onward to enjoy music,
conversation, food and then the fireworks from G&T Sports park. All
proceeds will go to Student Ministry Missions trips.
Finally, on Sunday we're beginning a new series, "Leadership Matters"
looking at the leadership principles of Nehemiah. Come with your Bibles
ready to enjoy our verse by verse investigation of this classic Old
Testament book.
Hope to see you Thursday, Saturday and/or Sunday.
Pastor Vince
