[LCC Announce] THIS WEEK AT LAKESHORE

Dear Lakeshore family—

I know this weekend is Memorial Day, and that this Sunday is a day notorious
for low church attendance.  It’s not the wisest day to start a new series on
an important topic.  But the way things worked out, we’re doing just that on
Sunday when we begin a series on marriage.

You’ve received the series mailer along with thousands of others in the area
so I’m sure you know about it.  And I won’t depress you with all the sorry
stats on marriage and divorce.  So all I will say is this:  If your marriage
and the marriage of others you know is important, do all you can to attend
each week and to invite others to attend as well.  It will be six weeks of
challenge and hope for every marriage.  And we have the “Fireproof” movie
date night on June 12 (FREE tickets required and available at church) and
other events surrounding the series, including a special day on June 28, the
last Sunday of the series.

If you love your marriage, DO NOT miss the June 28 service.  It will be
memorable.  Mark it down now, June 28.

A few other items I wanted to bring to your attention:

1) We have this Sunday and next Sunday to bring in food items to stock the
new Mission Share facility with either: 1) dry spaghetti/pasta, 2) canned
beans of any kind, 3) canned soup.  In these tough times, let’s help others
who have it even tougher than us.  I know you care deeply about the poor of
our community.

2) This Thursday, we’ll resume our Common Ground series in Hebrews… with the
schedule quirks, it has been 5 weeks!  Too long.  Along with Communion,
we’ll dedicate our offering to the Earthquake victims of Italy.  You should
have received information in your mail folders.  I hope you’ll be at church
at 7pm for the service and to help these victims.  I also know you care
about the victims of natural disasters too.

3) Finally, I hope that if it will benefit you financially that you’ll
consider purchasing bonds from Rives Leavell in the coming days.  Many of
you stayed after services and heard the presentation on how you can invest
your money (even many kinds of 401K’s and IRA’s) to earn a great, guaranteed
return, but some of you couldn’t make it to church.  Roland Leavell
(President of R-L) is here at LCC today (Monday) and Tuesday to meet with
people to discuss their situations.  Please call the office ASAP (392-LAKE)
to see if appointments are still available with Roland.  Of course, you can
invest after Roland leaves by calling R-L directly at 1-800-748-8877 and
finding out more.  When you purchase these bonds, you earn an interest and
the church saves the commission fee for those bonds.  And it is open to
family and friends as well.

given their lives for us and THE ONE who gave His life for us in the
ultimate way on Good Friday.
