[LCC Announce] THIS SUNDAY: Grand Opening of the Lakeshore Community Center

Dear LCCers-

Yesterday we received super news: we have a temporary Certificate of
Occupancy from the Town Of Greece.  This allows us to use the facility
as long as we complete the remaining work in the weeks ahead!
Cooooooool !

Thursday night after Common Ground Midweek service (our first with a new
Q&A format that many people said they really appreciated); I ended up
being the last person to leave the facility.  As I was walking around
checking all the external doors around the facility to ensure they were
locked, it hit me for the first time.  Perhaps because it was late and I
was all alone in the quietness within the building, I realized in more
fullness than ever what an incredible place this new Lakeshore Community
Center addition really is.  I started imagining what life will be like
here at Lakeshore from this Sunday forward.  All I could keep thinking
about was how lives will be changed in many more new and reinvigorating
ways.  Life at Lakeshore will forever be changed for the better starting
this Sunday as we celebrate the Lakeshore Community Center Grand
Opening.

A few details on Grand Opening Sunday:

1) We will hold regularly scheduled services at both 9 and 11am.  We'll
deal with the topic of "Cheering On The Church" and see the incredible
things Jesus sees when he looks at his bride, the church.  I think
understanding this love of Jesus will encourage you deeply.

2) At 12:45 - 1:20 pm we will hold the formal LC2 Grand Opening
ceremony.  You will get a brief history of Lakeshore as told by the
staff, Elders (flanked by our Trustees) will read scriptures related to
our four capital campaigns, dignitaries will share, and finally you will
hear from Sue and I before we pray a prayer of dedication and cut the
ribbon!

3) The Grand Opening service will take place in the Auditorium with
overflow seating in the atrium.

4) An hors devours reception will take place afterward in the LC2.  It
will be enough food to serve as a lunch-like meal.  You can tour the new
facility during this reception.  

5) Who will be in attendance?  State Sen. Joe Robach, State Assemblyman
Bill Reilich, Representatives from County Exec. Maggie Brooks' office,
many town and county legislators, construction workers, Pastors from all
over Rochester, and the media.  

One person who told me that he is flying here for the event is my friend
Dave Wright (a.k.a. "Super Dave" or "Supe", Bill Hybels' friend from the
"Just Walk Across The Room" series we did last Fall).  I told him he
would get the "rock star" treatment

A few other items of interest.  

First, the Democrat & Chronicle is doing a story on Lakeshore in
Sunday's paper.  It should be a front page story though things can
change depending on the news cycle.  

Second, some media outlets will be present Sunday including at least the
D&C, Greece Post and Channel 10.  

Finally, let's all pray for this day to be God-honoring.  Let's thank
Him for His work of grace in this church.

Sunday.  I predict they will be pleasantly surprised by what they
