[LCC Announce] Helping out Haiti (and other news)

Dear LCCers-

 

Well the news in Haiti continues to get worse with the recent 5.9
aftershock that followed the January 12 major earthquake.  The relief
effort will be a major one in this impoverished country, the poorest in
the western world.  As people who follow Jesus Christ, we are reminded
again and again to help the less fortunate when we can and we believe
that Lakeshore has been called to do something for the people of Haiti.
As I mentioned last Sunday, we will be taking a special offering to help
the people of Haiti and every dollar will be sent to our district office
(Converge Mid-Atlantic) for direct aid to people there.  The difference
between what we are doing and what others like the Red Cross are doing
is we will be sending the money in the name of Jesus Christ so that
others may see His love.

 

I hope you will come with a generous gift this Sunday.  Please make it a
gift "above and beyond" your regular giving to Lakeshore.  I'm trusting
God for at least $10,000.  I know we can do it!

 

A few other news items and reminders: 

 

The 2010 Membership Meeting is next Sunday, January 31.  The optional
potluck is 4:30-6:00pm (you must register ahead of time if you plan to
attend) and the meeting itself is 6:00-8:00pm.  This is a required
meeting for all official members so please plan to attend.  We will have
a Member Meeting table to RSVP for the potluck on Sunday.  And don't
forget about getting your picture taken.  Please come early to do so
(taken during either the potluck or by 5:30pm if you won't be at the
potluck dinner).

 

The Reveal 2 Survey is up and ready for you to provide your input on the
church.  Your feedback is very needed for us to understand where we are
as a church.  It will take you about 30 minutes.  We only have two weeks
to take this survey so why not do so now?  Here is the link to click and

Common Ground Midweek service is tomorrow (Thursday at 7pm).  We just
began a series in 2 Thessalonians, "Strength For Stressful Times" and
this is a great time to jump in and "Build Up" (using the Strategic Plan
lingo from Sunday) your faith and understanding of the Bible.  We will
end the message by 8:20pm followed by an open 10 minute Q&A about what
we covered to help you better understand the message.  So far, it has
been a big hit!  Hope to see you here at 7pm Thursday!

 

This Sunday, we're beginning a new series, "Wisdom and Wealth".  If you
need more financial wisdom in these increasingly tough times, be ready
to receive some important insights.  Why not invite a friend... you
know, "Build Out"? (yeah, Strategic Plan lingo again.)
