All-

I hope you had a fantastic Memorial Day weekend. In between cookouts,
sunburns, and swimming, I hope you were able to express thanks to God
for the lives of many Americans sacrificed for our freedoms. Of course,
we should express the same thanks for those serving our country in the
military today. Summer has indeed unofficially begun.

Last Sunday, as we addressed the topic of worship, I was struck by how
challenging it was to prepare a talk for something I wish I was better
at than I currently am. I was also struck by how many people felt the
challenge to give God His just due and priority in worship. Yet, in
response to the challenge, many shared how they really want to get
closer to God through worship. I'm in that number as well. If you
missed the service due to holiday travels, I encourage you to at least
get the Lakeshore notes from the website or (even better) the message CD
from RIPPLES.

This Thursday, one of our "homework" assignments was to come to Common
Ground Midweek service to worship like there's no tomorrow. We'll have
communion wrapped around a worship music set that will allow us that
worship time we all need. And then we'll worship in the book of
Revelation. Last time, I know the final part of the message was "757
jumbo jet" quick and perhaps you have some "jet lag". This Thursday,
we'll only fly at 747 speed together. The fun, for both adults and
children, begins at 7pm. See you tomorrow night if you can make it.

This Sunday, we'll look at another text God wants to send us. We'll
explain this Sunday and are working on including a creative, real-time
texting idea. Stay tuned.

A few other items:

1) Graduation pictures are due Sunday along with pertinent details.
Please send to the church office ASAP.

2) NH220 "How To Study And Enjoy The Bible" seminar has had a great
response! There is still room to register for this interesting,
powerful (but intense) seminar on Saturday, June 19. Register at
RIPPLES for $10 which includes lunch and the course study guide. Bring
your Bible and a pen and come hungry... yes, both kinds!

3) Lakeshore Coffee House series this Friday evening at 7:30pm.
Enjoy some great music over coffee and desserts. A super friend invite
opportunity.

Thanks,

Vince
