[LCC Announce] Lakeshore, Leadership and Dr. Howard Hendricks

Dear Lakeshore Family-

 

I hope this email finds you doing well and enjoying the great weather.  

 

This Sunday, we're beginning a new series in light of the coming
holiday: "Our Declaration Of Dependence".  We'll explain that little
twist on words at church as we look at what true freedom is really all
about and how to begin the journey towards it.  We'll also celebrate our
graduates during the service with a special video and have "promotion
Sunday" as all the kids will go up to their next grade classes in both
Friend Ship Company (children) and Ignite Student Ministry.  Hope to see
you here.

 

Just a reminder that the Global Leadership Summit being hosted August
5-6 here is still priced at just $75 for LCCers only.  But the deadline
is THIS Tuesday, June 29 by midnight.  Don't pass up this can't miss
leadership event.  We also could use a few more volunteers.  Find out
more at the Summit table.

 

One last item.  This week I received an alumni email from Dallas
Seminary.  In it is a short video celebrating the end of Howard
Hendrick's 60 year teaching stay at "DTS".  While he is older and weaker
in the tone with which he speaks these days, he was a huge mentor to me
and virtually all of the students who sat in his classes.  I graded for
his "Bible Study Methods" class one semester for one reason- just so I
could be near him and learn more about his teaching and leadership
gifts.  I get emotional just thinking about it even today.  Across the
table from him in the video is my very first mentor from a distance,
Chuck Swindoll.  For what it's worth to you, I am sending this video for
you to watch... if you'd like.  It is available below.  Believe me, not
all my mentors are this old!

Greetings from Dallas Seminary,

Dr. Howard Hendricks, known simply as "Prof," has taught at DTS since
1951. In nearly 60 years of teaching he has directly or indirectly
touched millions of lives. While Prof steps down from decades of
teaching in the classroom, he will dedicate his future years to
mentoring and encouraging students at Dallas Seminary. May you be
inspired by our beloved friend and colleague, Howard Hendricks, and his
continuing passion to reach many generations for Christ.
