Dear Lakeshore Family-

I hear that you had some weather last week? Sue and I made it out just
in time to squeeze in a week of vacation in Florida.... yes,
way-colder-than-normal Florida! It's good to be back to sunshine and
calm weather.

With the series "Chill Out" just completed, I wanted to share a few
things.

First, I am very thankful for Pastor Frank, Pastor Cory and Tom Johnson
(the ugly one :-)... relax, it is a term of endearment for a good friend
who, BTW, was our very first Student Pastor back in the day) speaking
during this series. All three did a super job based on what I heard
myself and from many others of you as well. What they had to say was so
important for our families, our workplaces and yes, even our church
relationships. I know that we'll all be better equipped to manage anger
better, resolve conflict more constructively, and to forgive people
biblically. Let's all do our part to be better at both "chilling out"
and helping others "chill out" when they want to act in unhealthy ways
around us.

I'm convinced that hearing from others besides me is good for so many
reasons. I'm sure some of you were overjoyed to have a break from me...
who can blame you?

Second, we're staring a new series on Sunday: "What Color Is Your
Paint?" Every one of us has a unique contribution to make to the church
and to the world with our gifts, personality, experiences and the like.
The problem is that few people know what "color" their gifts are and
even fewer ever "paint" with them. And research on church life reveals
this sad reality. It is one of the big reasons why many churches in
America are so anemic: too many sitters and not enough servers. We're
out to eliminate that for the next four weeks staring this Sunday. Be
here with your "painter pants" and "paint brushes" and learn how much
fun it can be to color our world with our gifts (I think you'll really
like the stage presentation for the series too).

Let's start painting this Sunday,

Vince

PS-This Sunday evening, we will be holding our first New Horizons
seminars of the year. NH101 and 201 are still open (the others are
closed). The fun starts at 4pm. Be sure to arrive a few minutes early!
