Dear Lakeshore family-
[cid:image001.jpg at 01CCC715.E0683C70]
As you read this, I am in the Central American country of Nicaragua with one of our Trustees and new Missions Director Ken Oemcke visiting a ministry called Orphan Network (www.orphanetwork.org). We're here to see the children and the workers and explore how we might get involved in a ministry that helps orphan children, who have to fend for themselves to find some way to survive on their own, find desperately needed food and shelter in the name of Jesus. You may not know that Nicaragua is the second poorest country in the western hemisphere (after Haiti) and the plight here is incredible. Who knows how God will lead us to play a role in this part of the world? Please pray for us to let God fully take our hearts in the direction He wants.

Start the New Year off right by attending Common Ground Midweek service on Thursday at 7 p.m. My great friend Pastor Brian Rathbun from CrossBridge Community Church will be teaching (Mark 10) as we continue our series in the Gospel of Mark. We'll also be joined by another friend, special guest musician Dave Dunn. With Kids Caf? and a time for celebrating communion, this is a "can't miss" service.

On Sunday, we begin a new series that will help you get "up" or stay "up" in this down world. This will be a great "pick me up" series and one I think your friends and family will get a lot from. Invite them and take them to Waves Caf? for a cup of coffee or smoothie after service. This Sunday, you'll learn why "You're Not A Nobody" to God.

Finally, I want to take this time to give you the latest on "Audio Visual". To date, we have received some very generous gifts. While I don't know who gave what, I do know we have some very generous givers who have made sacrifices that have been significant.
But truth be told, the number of families who have turned in an "AV" commitment is lower than I expected... in fact much lower. Usually there are two reasons why.
First is the possibility that the cause is not important enough. If this is not a worthwhile cause, then people are not going to be inspired by it. I'm convinced that giving missionaries 4-times the financial support they would have received in 2012 is vital to spreading the Good News around the world. I also believe that the projects identified by the staff are the centerpiece of our outreach plan for spreading the Good News in Rochester in 2012. The staff will be able to minister to children, youth and adults more effectively with these tools. I hope you agree that these two causes are critical because people near to God, and far from God, matter deeply to Him.
Second is the possibility that we haven't communicated well enough or with enough urgency. As the Sr. Pastor, that's ultimately my job so I want to share this information so you can know how vital this is and then respond accordingly.
Please pray and ask God if He would want you to make a one year pledge to "AV". If He leads you to say yes, please turn in your "AV" commitment card (with an upfront gift if possible) either in the mail or at church by Friday, January 13 at 12 noon. We will announce the total shortly thereafter.
"AV" commitments are a vital part of our 2012 plans- and trust me, we have some incredible plans for 2012 including a possible "Buffalo Bills Weekend" experience next fall. Yes, you heard that right, Buffalo Bills (sorry, Drew Brees and my New Orleans Saints family :)). Funding for these projects will help make this potential event much more effective for you and the many guests we expect.
So please prayerfully be a part by Friday, January 13. We still need many more commitments to reach our "AV" goals.
Warmly,
Vince
