Geralyn Leipold, leader of the LCC Grief Ministry, is looking for people who can sew. Please read a note from Geralyn:
I would like to provide the grieving families with a very, very special keepsake, but need people who can sew & who would like to be a blessing to families who lose loved ones.
When my dad passed away, I had a teddy bear made from one of his flannel shirts. The bear was made by the sister of a co-worker and it cost me $35. Admittedly, she did a nice job, but I can't expense $35 per bear to LCC. I wondered if there were women at LCC who would be interested in helping out.
Another example - using Donna Hamilton's bathrobe, Penny Strawcutter made an 18" bear & 2 smaller bears for Lisa Johnson & her 2 daughters. Penny is also planning to make a teddy bear for Sandy Rizzo using one of Vern's fleece tops. I really need more help than Penny for this program to be successful. Even now we have others in mind that we'd like to do similar projects for.
I bought a simple pattern so that the bears wouldn't be too time-consuming to make. You don't need to be a professional sewer.
Please contact me if you'd like more information and would like to participate in this very special keepsake.
